      There are other people working on similar things so i guess that other people think that looking at the genetics pathways is a useful thing to do.

      In science careers, we are generally pretty hot on peer review. Which means asking other people to review your work. As a result of this I have often has colleagues who both agree and disagree with my findings. There is often just as much value from understanding why people disagree as it can often inform future work. So to answer your question, yes!
