I’d say 90% of the work is pretty straight forward. 10% is difficult and requires some brain-work! Conceptually it can be quite complex and you do have to work hard if you want to do well! But I think that is the same no matter what you do!

It can be both. Once the lectures are written it’s mostly just updating them and giving them (which can be hard work, especially if it’s a complicated subject, but I always enjoy it).
I have a fair bit of admin to do, and i’m in the middle of rewriting our MSc courses and there’s a lot of paperwork and it’s a bit complicated in places and important to get right so it’s also a lot of hard work! Hopefully we’ll get the best outlines for the maximum benefit of the students.
The research is also a mixture, some of the lab work is nice and straight forward but some of the analysis can be hard work (dealing with very large data sets and stats).
Overall the mixture of easy and hard work is good, it’s nice getting to expand my boundaries 🙂

The more you do something/train the easier it becomes. If things were easy straight away I’d probably say that it’s not worth doing! Sometimes it’s the things you weren’t expecting which are the hardest to deal with.
To answer your question, I like working hard! Gives me a sense of achievement and accomplishment when it is done!
