I liked biology and chemistry so thought about studying biochemistry. I also put pharmacy on my uni application to fill up the spaces. When I went to the university open days I decided I liked the city of Aberdeen the best which meant I was going to be studying pharmacy. Turned out to be a very good decision!! So, in short, I kinda fell into it because I didn’t really know what I wanted to do/be when I was at school.

I always loved genetics, right from when we were taught it in school. I got to do a degree and phd in it too and it all just fueled how much i enjoy it. Genes underlie so much of what we are and can be related to many different diseases and potentially we could use genetic info to personalise medicine to an individual.
