Good question! The answer is no- I have no part in animal testing. However, I know that it does go on as it is part of research and development of new drugs, including new antibiotics.

      I don’t test on animals.

In our lab we test the effects of our antibiotics directly on the bacteria, so no animals are involved!

      No, no animals, just bacteria.

No, we don’t. In fact, in our lab we found an alternative way to test drugs on bacteria in a model system, to avoid testing them on animals. However, in antibiotic development often animal testing is used in validation process prior to human clinical trial studies.
