If people know about a problem they can try and do something about it. For example, with antibiotics, if people know that not taking their course of treatment properly can help contribute to resistance, then they may be more likely to take them properly. Then we narrow an avenue for resistance development and that benefits everyone.

If we know about a problem then we can start to do something about it. It also helps to know why we should do things. For example, if you know why you should complete a course of antibiotics then you are more likely to do it. For the record, It’s important to complete the course to make sure the infection is completely gone and doesn’t come back but, because of the previous antibiotics, it might hav developed antibiotic resistance this time.
