• Question: what do you do once you've treated different different kinds of bugs, do they get made into new antibiotics?

      Sometimes!

      Although this depends on the drug. It might be that the same thing that kills the bug is also very harmful for humans which, although certainly an antibiotic would not make a very good medicine!

      We will definitely need new antibiotics to treat multi-drug resistant infections if they are resistant to all of the antibiotics we currently have.
