We work with micro-organisms, usually bacteria, but fungi and viruses too sometimes. There are lots of different things that individual microbiologists do though, depending on where they work. Diagnosing diseases in the NHS or doing research for example.

Microbiologist are bacteria experts! They can tell me which bacteria are causing an infection and, after they do tests on it, they tell me which antibiotics will kill it and which are resistant. They are super useful, clever people!
