For my PhD i think. They’re pretty intensive – you spend 3 years in the lab working on one subject and then write up all the results of your work. For mine, i was looking at the a gene in pathways a cell has to recognise and signal DNA damage. I was looking at the sequences in the control region of the GADD45a gene to see what proteins interact with the gene to switch it on or off. I was trying to find this out because my supervisor had developed a test for DNA damage that used the gene and we wanted to know as much about it as we could, to make the test better.
